About DigiCert CodeSign EV

Secure your software with DigiCert CodeSign Extended Validation. As a software developer or distributor, you can digitally sign your code, ensuring its security, identity, and integrity.

All Microsoft Windows drivers including kernel- and user-mode drivers must be submitted and signed through Windows Hardware Developer Center Dashboard Portal (WHDCDP) to be valid. WHDCDP only accepts drivers signed with an EV Code Signing certificate, such as this certificate.

The certificate includes one USB crypto-dongle to secure and install the certificate on normally priced at +$120.

Key Features

  • Immediate acceptance in the Windows download reputation program SmartScreen, increasing trust for users downloading your software.
  • Includes one USB crypto-dongle FIPS 140-2 level 2, that can handle RSA keys up to 4096 bit
  • Includes "Time Stamping" service, that ensures signings are valid after the certificate expires
  • Supports all development platforms
  • Certificate includes company type and address
  • Includes support for Windows driver signing, including Kernel Mode
  • Azure Cloud-ready, complying with security requirements for the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform

Supported Platforms

Note

Since June 1st, 2023, all CodeSign OV and EV certificates are required to be issued directly on a device with physical protection in compliance with FIPS 140-2 level 2 / EAL4+ or higher. Certificates issued prior to this change will continue to work until expiry, but cannot be reissued without a physical protection.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - All new CodeSign certificates validity reduced to 15 months before 15th of June 2025

In accordance with the CA/B Forum, all newly issued CodeSign certificates are being reduced to a maximum of 460 days validity, starting no later than the 15th of June 2025. We expect the CA to stop issuing 2-year and 3-year certificates before this time, at a date still to be announced.
